Strength and conditioning Devon: expert advice, locally.

Athletic Development Coaching

strength and conditioning devonJames Marshall has been helping people achieve their fitness goals for more than 25 years. He helped recreational athletes prior to working as a strength and conditioning coach with professional sports teams (London Welsh RFC, Exeter Chiefs) and National Governing Bodies (England Golf, England Rugby, Football Association).

If you have an idea about what you would like to achieve in your sport, James will be happy to help you on your way, no matter what level you are currently playing at.

What is S&C coaching?

Strength and Conditioning Coaching (Sometimes abbreviated to S&C ) is a term imported from the USA. It means helping athletes get ready for their sport.

James has been a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist since 2003 and has been Accredited with the UKSCA since 2007. Before that, he just got people fit!

James uses his own extensive experience as both a coach and an international competitor, alongside evidence-based practice, to ensure that every athlete improves.

Good coaching can help every athlete improve their performance

"I have been so impressed with the improvement in my son’s technical ability over the last six weeks. Not only will this have a huge impact on performance but crucially will also reduce the risk of injury. James can quickly identify areas that need working on and manages to pass on his technical knowledge in a fun and easy to understand way.” Steve Baylis, father of 14-year old Will, rugby player and 100m sprinter.

If you want to get strongerrun faster or jump higher, then you can sign up for one of those programmes for 1:1 coaching. They will be adapted to your individual needs and include many aspects of Athletic Development

They are designed for sportspeople of any standard who wish to improve.

"He feels that there has been a significant progression in his acceleration, speed, strength and general mobility over the past year or so, well beyond that which might have been expected from his (long-awaited) physical maturation.” Dr Paul Malcolm, father of 17-year-old footballer Sam.
