We have commissioned independent research into post-exercise recovery comparing contrast bathing with cold water immersion at different temperatures and times. At peer review stage with American Journal of Sports Medicine. For advance abstract please email me colin@cetcryospas.com

It can’t be independent research if you have commissioned it. That is like Gatorade or Lucozade telling us to drink more sports drinks.
The meta analysis of all cold water immersion research, not just one study, shows it is unproven, but that placebo can be important.

Hi James, it is always difficult to get arms length research. I too am sceptical of the ‘smoking is good for you’ research. In this instance we commissioned the University of Ulster and they conducted the research via the Sports Institute of Northern Ireland [SINI] with Dr Phil Glasgow as lead researcher. We had no direct contact with SINI during the research.

But that aside, most of the research into ice baths had only one or two interventions. In this project there were 5 interventions including cwi, contrast bathing and the control. So if the effect was down to placebo then all interventions should have had a similar positive result. This was not the case.

    Regards, Colin

You only sent me the abstract, not the whole of the study design, which does not build confidence. There were no alternative measures to using your product, except “do nothing”.
DOMS is subjective (placebo) measurement. Sample size was small.

[…] I see many athletes wearing expensive compression suits, but neglecting the simple, cheaper and better proven methods of recovery. (see recovery infographic). […]
