GAIN Deep Dive: Foundational Strength
GAIN comes to the UK
Vern Gambetta will help you become a better coach
The GAIN Deep Dive is a one and a half day interactive workshop for sports coaches, physiotherapists, and p.e. teachers who are looking for practical and relevant tools to help their teams.
GAIN is a community of sports performance professionals eager to learn and willing to share ideas and information.
GAIN is not about more exercises, sets, reps and training methods it is about passionate people who pursue excellence with honesty, integrity and respect to make a difference in the lives of the people we coach and teach.
Regular GAIN is five days long and covers a range of topics encompassing many disciples under the sports performance umbrella. The goal of the Deep Dive is to go in depth on one particular topic. It is a workshop format over one- and one-half days encompassing a combination of lecture, demonstration and active learning opportunities.
The theme is “Foundational Strength” and will include:
- Understanding strength: what it means in sport, rather than bodybuilding.
- Applying strength: Body positions, leverage, robustness.
- Designing a programme: how to use it in your environment, class pitch, court.
- Coaching the programme: Avoiding the mistakes of ‘traditional Strength & conditioning’ programmes. How to use implicit learning and athlete centred tasks that create adherence and enjoyment.
This video shows an example of James Marshall expanding upon the basic squat with a group of young sports people.
This interactive workshop will draw heavily on Vern’s vast experiences and the lessons he has learned.
Course attendees will walk away with a better understanding of what works and how to apply it to their situation.
Full course itinerary to follow.

Client Testimonials
I have been training with James for over four years now and firmly believe he has played a key role in my transformation as an athlete and therefore as a footballer. It’s fair to say I was in poor condition in various aspects when we first met, however, James’ ability to focus on the most important things and eliminate the baggage from training has enabled me to develop rapidly, having missed selection for the 2009 European Championships I am now a regular in the starting lineup.
