It is interesting to see other people’s reactions to this. Those who are keen for other people to fail seem to want to hit me over a head with the fact and that I should stop keeping fit and being healthy and get fat!
Hey ho, one of my neighbours recently said that having 3 children wasn’t an excuse for getting fat, and was getting back to her pre baby weight- which she has achieved – well done.
In this age of instant gratification, credit card debt and absence of personal accountability it isn’t my fault that I am…. the nay sayers just encourage me more to look after myself and my family.
Age isn’t an excuse for obesity, life’s responsibilities have a habit of getting bigger, and children mean a diminished amount of time for personal activities, but no one forces me to have an extra biscuit!
I noticed from about 33 onwards that I could train hard, but I needed more time to recover. The last 2 years it has been sleep deprivation that has hampered my training- and made me vulnerable to illness when I have trained hard. Recently, with sleep being plentiful, I have got the balance right again and feel quite fit and healthy.
With a baby due imminently, I am more concerned about my wife’s well being, but I am implementing my chunks training of 20 minute workouts and repeating them throughout the day to allow me to adapt to unscheduled interruptions!

- The best supplement you can take is self-discipline.
